Getting There: All destinations are in Huangpi District, about 1-2 hours drive from Wuhan. Renting a car is recommended for families, but public buses are available from Hankou Railway Station.

Language: English is limited at these attractions. Save location names in Chinese characters to show taxi drivers or locals: 黄陂区 (Huangpi District).

Destination 1: Mulan Flower Village (木兰花乡)
Located in Daitang Village, Yaojia Street, Huangpi District (黄陂区姚家集街杜堂村木兰花乡景区), Mulan Flower Village offers a perfect blend of nature and entertainment.
First impression? Rows of exquisite homestays lining the pathways, surrounded by gardens, a bird paradise, animal kingdom, and a mini train for kids. The amusement area alone could fill an entire day—Ferris wheel, carousel, pirate ship, pendulum ride, singing fountain, rapids, off-road vehicles, go-karts, bumper cars, boats, and ziplines.
The Bird Forest is the largest in Central China, covering over 150 mu (about 25 acres) with a 20,000 sqm netted area housing hundreds of bird species. Kids can see swan lakes, monkey islands, parrot houses, squirrel areas, bird performances, and petting zoos—definitely the highlight for younger children.
Don't miss the Mulan Culture Museum (木兰文化博物馆)—it displays authentic Mulan-related artifacts, vivid sculptures, and reconstructed spinning wheels from ancient times. Kids can learn about the legendary Hua Mulan while seeing historical items. Great cultural immersion without being boring!
Overnight Option: The village homestays are adorable—cozy courtyards, water-viewing pavilions, wooden furniture, swings, flower-adorned windows, and cobblestone paths. Each house has an elegant name like "Seclusion" (隐逸) or "Reading" (耕读). Nearby you'll find bookstores, art studios, teahouses, bars, studios, and snack shops. The resort restaurant serves local specialties, and evening bonfire parties are common in peak season.

Getting There: From Wuhan, take Daihuang Expressway directly to Huangpi, then exit at the third turn from Huangpi city center onto Mulan Avenue to the scenic area.
By Bus: Take Route 292 from Hankou Railway Station to Huangpi Diaotai New Passenger Center, then transfer to bus to Chezhancun Village (stop at scenic area entrance).
Destination 2: Mulan Yunwu Mountain (木兰云雾山)
Mulan Yunwu Mountain (木兰云雾山) is Wuhan's largest suburban park, located in Paotongdian, Lijia Street, Huangpi District (武汉市黄陂区李家集街泡桐店). Famous for rhododendron flower seas in spring, but has plenty for kids year-round.
Dinosaur Valley (恐龙谷): In the forest canyon between Fairy Pond and Huayang along several kilometers, you'll find hundreds of animatronic dinosaurs across three geological periods: Triassic, Jurassic, and Cretaceous. Some dinosaurs have touch sensors—they move and make sounds, with realistic skin texture. Kids (and adults!) get an entertaining natural history lesson from professional educators.
Wuhan's Highest Point (武汉之巅): The glass viewing platform sits at the main peak, 709 meters above sea level—the highest point in Wuhan. On September 28, 2019, Guinness World Records certified it as the "Longest Cantilevered Glass Viewing Platform" at 81.9 meters long with a vertical drop of 500 meters (166 stories!). Not for the faint-hearted!
Adjacent attractions include high-altitude swings and "Heartbeat Trail" for thrill-seekers.
Clay Figurine Village (泥人王村): Wuhan Huangpi clay sculpture is a famous traditional craft with saying "North has Clay Figure Zhang, south has Clay Figure King." The village at Mulan Yunwu Mountain's foot has practiced this art for generations—the famous 500 golden Buddha statues at Guiyuan Temple in Hanyang were crafted by father and son from this village!
The village features unique "Mu Lu Gan Qi" stone wall construction—stone slabs stacked in interlocking patterns, creating photogenic ancient walls.
Next to the village is a wax museum featuring the legendary Mulan's military service scene and famous figures from Chinese and world history.
Other attractions: Sky Glass Bridge, Glass Rafting, Fairy Cave, Ice Sculpture Hall, Eight-Li Willow Creek, plus activities like archery, ATV riding, horse riding, and haunted house.
Kids' Programs: The park offers special "Happy Farm" and "Speed & Engine" themed activities where children harvest crops, experience farming, and go treasure hunts in Dinosaur Valley for STREAM education. Mongolian yurts available for overnight stays.
Overnight Option: The park is too big for one day. Stay at Yunwu Mountain Hotel or the unique RV campground—charming small cabins like童话世界, fully equipped with eco-friendly solid wood furniture, queen beds, bunk beds, sofa, TV, AC. Larger towable RVs include bedroom, bathroom, living room, kitchen with AC, refrigerator, and induction cooker.

Getting There: Multiple routes via expressways—most direct is Huangpi Exit (S1 Daihuang Expressway) → Huangpi → 310 Provincial Road → Dayi Gas Station (right turn) → Qipao Line → Yunwu Mountain.
Destination 3: Nomura Valley (野村谷)
Dream of a countryside escape? Nomura Valley (野村谷郊野公园) might be your answer—50km from downtown Wuhan in Tangliujia Village, Wangjia Street, Huangpi District, within the 5A-level Mulan Cultural Tourism Zone, covering 7,000 mu.
As poet Tao Yuanming wrote: "Pick chrysanthemums beneath the eastern fence, leisurely see the southern mountains. Long imprisoned in the cage, now I return to nature."—this is that kind of place.
The 13,000+ mu scenic area divides into mountain climbing zone (Moon Lake, Lion Mountain, Azalea Valley, Palace of Coldness) and park zone (Herb Creek, Terraced Vegetable Fields, Begonia Valley, Vineyard, Wine庄, Grassland, Plum Garden, Lotus Pool, Peach Mountain, Rose Garden, Peacock Garden).
