Best Time to Visit: May is peak rose season. The garden opens early morning—arriving around 8-9 AM means fewer crowds and better photo opportunities.

Arrival: A Warm Welcome

We parked our car and hadn't even entered the scenic area when, in the distance, we spotted vibrant roses standing like hospitable hosts in full bloom, awaiting our arrival.

A sweet, fragrant scent drifted toward us—the roses had put on their finest 'perfume' to welcome us properly.

The Rose Carpet: Swan Lake's Royal Display

Walking along the lakeside through the flower corridor, we followed the fragrance to discover a magnificent rose 'carpet' spread across Swan Lake—perhaps prepared for the swans to dance upon.

The roses in this carpet were breathtaking—red roses burning with passion, pink roses shyly blushing, yellow roses dignified and noble, white roses pure and innocent, and multi-colored roses dazzlingly brilliant. Our fellow female traveler couldn't help but dance among them.

The Crown Jewel: Damask Roses from Bulgaria

Beyond the 1,000 mu of ornamental roses in various colors and varieties, the garden also cultivates 2,000 mu of Damask roses from Bulgaria—the 'Rose Kingdom'—renowned as the 'crown' of roses.

The Damask Rose is a rare and precious variety among roses. Touching its petals gently, they feel as smooth as silk. Primarily in shades of pink and white, these roses feature not only beautiful forms and brilliant colors but also a pure, captivating fragrance. They are the treasure among 'fragrance roses,' and the essential oil extracted from Damask roses is the finest of all rose oils.

Roses Through History

In Europe, roses have been deeply cherished by people throughout history, widely planted in manor gardens and monastery gardens.

The rose is England's national flower and one of the heraldic patterns used by British nobility, commemorating the most famous battle for the throne in English history—the Wars of the Roses.

Romans would scatter abundant rose petals from rooftops during banquets to create a romantic, warm atmosphere. They also wore roses to prevent drunkenness.

Ancient Egyptians used roses to worship their favorite gods in religious ceremonies, even placing them with mummies in tombs.

Roses: The Symbol of Love

Originally, roses came from China. In ancient Chinese, the word '玫瑰' (méiguī) originally referred to red agate. It was later borrowed to name a wild rose plant, and then this name became widely applied to rose plants.

Today, roses represent love, and different colors of roses symbolize different kinds of love. Red roses represent passionate, sincere romance. Pink roses represent beautiful, ambiguous first love. Blue roses represent mysterious, precious secret love. White roses represent pure, selfless unrequited love...

Why do red roses symbolize passionate love?

According to Greek mythology, Aphrodite, the goddess of love, ran through a rose garden searching for her lover Adonis. The rose thorns scratched her hands and legs, and drops of blood fell onto the white rose petals, turning them red. Since then, red roses have represented unwavering love—they are symbols of love and purity.

The red rose, known as the 'Queen of Fragrance,' has a rich and elegant scent that easily fills you with happiness.

The Pink Church: A Romantic Backdrop

Not far from the rose carpet stands a pink and blue church. White doves fly freely above it, creating a perfect romantic backdrop alongside the rose sea to witness your special moments together.

You can ride the scenic train to relive your childhood, or take a boat or raft to cruise the lake—how romantic can you get?

Perfect for 520: A Romantic Escape
