Finding Old Town Charm - Nantou Ancient Town (南头古城)
Nantou Ancient Town (南头古城) is located in Nanshan District, Shenzhen, south of Shennan Avenue and adjacent to Zhongshan Park. Also known as "Xin'an Ancient City" (新安故城), this 1,730-year-old hidden gem in the heart of Shenzhen served multiple times as the administrative center of the coastal region, a coastal defense fortress, maritime transportation hub, and foreign trade center. It's one of the historical and cultural origins of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area.
Every time I visit a new city, I want to discover its historical culture. Turns out, Nantou Ancient Town is just 10 minutes from Shenzhen Bay Marriott.
The south gate tower displays a plaque reading "Lingnan Major Town" (岭南重镇)—once an important stronghold defending the nation's southern borders. Passing through the south gate feels like stepping through Shenzhen's history, and I instantly became fascinated.

6. Three subway lines serve the hotel area: Line 9 (Gaoxin South Station), Line 1 (High-Tech Park Station), and Line 2 (Keyuan Station)—super convenient for getting around.
