Money Matters: Most restaurants and shops in Jixian accept mobile payment (WeChat Pay, Alipay). Bring some cash for smaller vendors and tips.
Language: English is limited in rural Jixian. Learn a few key phrases: 民宿 (mínsù) = B&B, 温泉 (wēnquán) = hot spring
Best Time: November offers beautiful autumn colors. Winter is perfect for hot spring soaking!
Day 1: Arrival at Yujian Yushan
We arrived at Yujian Yushan Hot Spring Boutique B&B (遇见与山温泉精品民宿) in Chuanfangyu, Jixian District, Tianjin. This mountain B&B sits nestled against the foothills, surrounded by nature—think poetic landscapes and artistic vibes. The courtyard is spacious, perfect for groups to gather, chat, and soak up the sun.
The drive up offered stunning views of the valley below. Upon arrival, we were greeted by the warm autumn sun and the scent of pine in the air. This place truly feels like a retreat from the hustle and bustle of city life.
Day 2: The Hot Spring Experience
Since it's called a hot spring B&B, the hot spring is the main attraction! The water is crystal clear with excellent health benefits. Soaking in this wonderful timing, feeling the warmth spread through every cell of your body—pure bliss! This B&B is often called the 'Bali of Jixian'—the photos speak for themselves in terms of颜值 (yánzhí = aesthetics). Since opening, it's been a hotspot for Instagram-loving visitors.
Foreigner tip: In cold winter months, nothing beats soaking in a steaming hot spring while snow falls around you. The contrast is magical and great for your circulation.
The B&B features a BBQ area, public entertainment space, children's play area, and meeting rooms. The outdoor pool and rooftop terrace offer stunning mountain views—perfect for morning coffee or evening stargazing.
Day 3: Exploring the Mountains
Morning hike through the mountain trails! We followed stone paths deeper into the forest, crossing streams and discovering hidden waterfalls. The fresh mountain air filled our lungs—nature at its finest.
Pro hack: The B&B provides BBQ grills and charcoal for guests. Bring your own ingredients and enjoy an outdoor BBQ dinner with friends!
Day 4: Room Tour and Relaxation
The B&B has 5 rooms: 1 king room, 3 tatami rooms, and 1 standard room—accommodating 10-12 guests. Perfect for group getaways! In winter, floor heating keeps every room toasty warm.
The room decor uses whites, various shades of gray, custom mattresses, curtains, and even throw pillows—every detail shows the owner's用心 (yòngxīn = care and attention). After traveling, there's nothing like a small but warm home away from home.
After a long day of exploring, a soak in the huge bathtub followed by a good night's sleep—waking up refreshed and ready for more adventures!
Day 5: Entertainment and Recreation
The B&B is equipped with a living room, small meeting room, chess room (with Chinese chess, Go, and mahjong machines). Perfect for relaxing and enjoying leisure time with friends!
Day 6: Kitchen and Departure
The B&B has a kitchen where guests can cook their own meals. Imagine making a nutritious breakfast or hearty lunch—there's something special about food made with your own hands while traveling.
Open the door and breathe in fresh, fragrant mountain air—鸟语花香 (niǎo yǔ huā xiāng = birds singing, flowers blooming). The valley opposite is like a世外桃源 (shì wài táoyuán = paradise on earth). Nestled in the mountains with abundant nature—truly a perfect getaway!
